Alligators may be encountered anywhere on the refuge, especially near the freshwater ponds; it is potentially dangerous (and a violation of state and federal law) to feed or harass this reptile in any way.

Watch Out! Vegetation overgrowth, rocks, or fallen trees on trails may conceal snakes, poison ivy, or stinging insects.

Questions regarding law enforcement or violations on the refuge should be directed to the Refuge Officer at (843) 784-2468 or (912) 210-3976.

For injured or nuisance wildlife issues, please contact the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.

For any emergency situation, please call 911.
